10,250 great English books are on their way to our learning centers in Cambodia. This is the result of the Sorting Event UK at Hargreaves Scout Camp close to London that was organized by our book champions Vicky, Kay and Alan from 2nd East London Scout Group and joined by scouts from all over the UK.

“What an amazing weekend in London!”, Carsten said to his wife when he returned home on Monday evening. More than 40 scouts had sorted roughly 30,000 books within three days. Saturday night, most of the sorting was already done. Books were packed on pallets and shrink-wrapped. Everyone really enjoyed their time!

Behind the scenes, a lot of people and organizations were helping. Kuehne + Nagel organized the transport of books and provided us with all materials we needed to put the books on pallets. Unsuitable books for Cambodia were donated to Oxfam. Countless of book champions helped at the site.

We are really grateful for our network of book champions. Many kids dream to go to Cambodia to experience the impact they are creating. We’ll try hard to make this possible for a small group of scouts next year.
