BOOKBRIDGE Learning Center Siem Reap team was invited to join the third anniversary of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2015 -2030 on September 16. To raise the awareness of the United Nation’s SDG and to show their commitment to education quality, one of the SDG goals, they joined the cycling activities.
All participants gathered in Wat Damnak pagoda at 7 o’clock in the morning for t-shirt registration. The SDG’s 17 goals and 169 targets were explained by a United Nation’s ambassador. This was followed by a fifteen-minute meditation to concentrate on the physical position, mind and spirit health.
Afterwards, the participantes cycled in teams to the finish point. During the ride, we dropped by in front of Angkor Wat Temple and had a group photo showing our commitment to quality education. After 30 kilometers, we reached our destination Srah Srang where we had lunch. The following wrap-up session was led by UN ambassador Davuth who introduced us to funny games that focused the SDG goals and targets.
The goal of the event was to draw the attention of Cambodian youth to SDG to fight for ending poverty, hunger, health problems, inequality of education, gender gap and so on. Another good learning for our students was the registration process that forced them to fill out an online registration form in English.
