Andrea is BOOKBRIDGE fellow in our learning center in Tonloab, Cambodia. This time, she writes about a health project and blond hair in Cambodia.
One month is over since I arrived in Tonloab. But it seems like my white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes are still very interesting for the locals. So I still get a lot of attention. Now I have a routine in my daily tasks and know how working at the Learning Center is.
I am also preparing some lessons about dental care. To make it more interesting I decicided to draw the pictures by myself and it works. There are lots of students surrounding me every morning and asking me questions like „ Why is this tooth unhealthy?“ and also how they can keep them healthy. We also conducted a activity about cleaning the schoolyeard.
I got the chance to learn a lot about the Cambodian culture. I even travelled to Siem Reap with some students and another one invited the whole team to her birthday party. It’s still fascinating to see how happy and friendly cambodian people are!
