Bayanjargal is new Community Hero in Govi-Altai
For several months, the position of the Community Hero at our learning center in Govi-Altai, Mongolia has been vacant. We have now found a new Community Hero taking on the challenge to make the learning center to a community hub for Govi-Altai: Bayanjargal Purevnorson

Who are you?
My name is Bayanjargal. I’m from Govi-Altai. I have 2 daughters and a husband. I earned Bachelor degree at the Linguistic Institute in 2004. I’ve been working as an English teacher in the secondary school for 14 years. During this time I have been offering trainings to all English teachers in Govi-Altai. In addition, I got recently accepted for US Fulbright TEA program in nationwide for 2019. Currently, I have been involved in the MOOC E-teacher online course. In addition I have participated in ETM-English teaching Mentorship program in 2016.

In 2015, I got the opportunity to study for an IELTS preparation course at Lloyds International College in Sydney, Australia (from October 30, 2015 to January 19, 2016) through a project named English in Altai implemented by the Govi-Altai’s local government. I also joined the Peace Corps In-service-training with Lauren Javins in order to learn advanced teaching methods, learn how to work closely with people of a different background (especially with American Peace Corps Volunteers), and network with other Mongolian English teachers to further our learning beyond the classroom in 2015.

Why did you decide to become BOOKBRIDGE, Community Hero?
I have many reasons such as to make books useful for the community and make not only children but also adults interested in reading. English books by reading and get a lot of experiences by cooperating with BOOKBRIDGE team and use the experiences to the community in Govi-Altai.

Firstly, I believe books can help us to open our eyes.

Second, as I’m an English teachers I have realized that not only adults but also children want to improve or study English well. Reading books is one of the best ways to learn English much better.
Third, as BOOKBRIDGE is an international team, I want to make many new friends get a lot of experiences to make books in use by collaborating with them. Finally, making books in use can help our bright children who are future to become well educated people who can develop our province and our country.

What are your plans for your learning center?
I have many plans for my learning center to make the community get engaged in the library in interesting ways and improve their English. For the children who really want to improve their English I’d love to organize many clubs such reading time, movie watching time, discussion club etc.
I will make a schedule for the Reading time and the children and adults can come to the library and read their favorite books. After reading they can discuss about their books with others in English. It can help them to improve their not only self-confidence but also their English.

As I have just been accepted for implementing the Access scholarship I’d love to do this in the BOOKBRIDGE library. Teaching English to the financially disabled children who really want to study English was my dream. So I’d be so happy to have them gotten engaged in the library.

Finally, I will invite the Peace Corps Volunteers who are native speakers in our province to the library and cooperate with them to make books use in interesting and effective ways.
