Carsten talks to Cambodia scouts at our learning center in Takeo
In September, Carsten, Martina and Lisa visited our projects in Cambodia together with Sokhan, Country Manager for Cambodia. In this post, they describe their impressions.

The main purpose of our visit was to reinforce the social business model, hold a workshop with the Scouts of Cambodia, meet with potential partners and prepare the second edition of our leadership program. After having arrived in Phnom Penh, the four of us met to discuss the current situation and progress of our learning centers.

Lisa and Carsten meet with scout officials
To present the present situation, we held a workshop with our strategic partner Cambodia Scouts. Afterwards, we met potential partners in Phnom Penh consisting of well-known language schools, IT training centers and successful social enterprises to learn and share ideas with them. After the first week, we agreed on developing a business model for Takeo together with the Capability Program.

During the second week, we traveled to Takeo province to visit the learning center and meet with important stakeholders: representatives from language schools, IT centers, a local NGO and governmental organizations. Our goal was to identify problems and resources/potentials from three different levels – people, institutions/organization and business/environment as well as name courses/activities needed. We then visited the public gatherings of different localities in Takeo, which gave us important insights about the things people in Takeo want and need to learn.

Discussing the projects: Martina and Sokhan during the stakeholder meeting
Before Carsten and Martina traveled back to Germany and Sokhan and Lisa took the bus to Siem Reap, we spent a wonderful weekend at the vine retreat not far from Kep in the South of Cambodia. There we held a team workshop where we summarized our learnings and decided which steps to be taken next. Tasks were identified and activity plans were created for both centers to let follow the next steps.

The two weeks were very work intense but also very productive. We developed promising plans for our projects in Cambodia and we are very excited to see how our plans develop within the next months.
