Last week, our learning center in Siem Reap, Cambodia, welcomed Tam Nguyen from Vietnam. Tam, 20 years old, will support us as fellow until July 25 with educational activities and games as well as English lessons. In this post, Tam presents herself.

My name is Tam Nguyen. I come from Vietnam. I am studying Economics in Ho Chi Minh City and I have just finished my first year of college. When I was a little child, I used to struggle with reading and thus, in order to encourage my practices, my uncle gave me a lot of books with colorful illustrations. Even though so many years have passed, I am still very grateful for what he did because since then books have become my best friends as well as my favorite teachers; they not only open my first gates to the worlds, both real and imaginary, but also faithfully accompany me during my adventures.

And they lead me to another influential teacher: English, the language in which most ideas and discoveries all over the world are recorded. I decided to study English when I found out that as soon as I tried to do a further research on something I read, I would end up get stuck with the language. I had a tough beginning, but ever since books, English and English books together have been showing me a world beyond borders, a world that is full of wonders and never stop expanding.

And they lead me here, to BOOKBRIDGE learning center in Siem Reap because I want to help younger students with their own adventures, to introduce to them my favorite teachers and friends. And I hope that I could use what I have learned during my trip to accomplish this task.
